Baptism
Lutherans place great importance upon the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Rightly so for the Holy Scripture declares: "He who believes and is baptized shall be saved" (Mark 16:16); "Baptism now saves you . . ." (1 Peter ); "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." (John 3:5); "But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Saviour appeared, He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that being justified by His grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. The saying is trustworthy," (Titus 3: 4-8).
Jesus said, "Go, make disciples of all peoples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to keep all I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:1-19). Baptism and Teaching go together. We baptize babies and small children and then teach them. Adults and adolescents are taught first and then baptized. If you have a baby or young child and would like them to receive the promises God offers in and through Baptism or if you are an adult who has never been baptized into jesus Christ and would like to know more about this, please give us a call!
